News from the Ladies Team

The summer league for the ladies has gone very quickly with some excellent results in a range of conditions far from summer-like.

We started our season in the wind and rain and managed to produce some excellent results and were unbeaten in the first half of the season. Sadly this streak did not continue and our last two matches were against teams who also had unbeaten records plus their home advantage.

We battled hard, in some difficult conditions, but could not quite emulate Murray’s fantastic Wimbledon victories however we finished a very successful 3rd in the league.

Well done and thank you to all who played including Debra Barker, Sue Hoyland, Lisa Seeley, Karan Hotchkin and Laura Porter.

Sunday was a Fun Day!

The Papworth Tennis Fun Day was a big success with over 40 people attending, for fun, coaching and information. The rain held off, thank heavens so the kids, adults and helpers all had an enjoyable few hours.

Our coach, Diane Cobb, explains the next game

Visitors were welcomed to the courts by committee members and adults could just hit if they’d played before or get some tips on technique from our coaches. All the kids had fun with a range of games that they enjoyed but didn’t realise they were also learning lots about tennis technique and hand/eye coordination too.

We look forward to many of the visitors joining the club – if you came and you’re thinking about it, don’t ….just do it! We’d love to have your or your child as a member at Papworth Tennis Club.

A massive thank you to all our committee members and coaches for helping out and joining in the fun.
